IndyHumane Animals to Receive Pastoral Blessings

Christian Theological Seminary will visit the Humane Society of Indianapolis (September 30, 2011 – Indianapolis) The animals currently residing at the Humane Society of Indianapolis shelter will receive a special blessing from Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) students and faculty on Monday, October 3. The group pet blessing will take place in the Horth adoption lobby at 3:30 p.m. when students and faculty from CTS will bless animals in celebration of the Feast Saint Francis Assisi.

The blessing will include a spoken prayer for the animals and individual blessings for each animal. The patron saint of animals, Saint Francis of Assisi had a deep love and compassion for animals that continues to be celebrated eight centuries after he founded the Franciscan order.

Serving Indianapolis and the surrounding counties since 1905, the Humane Society of Indianapolis provides vital services to animals and people alike through sheltering and adopting animals, providing positive reinforcement behavior training for both adoptable animals and for owned animals through our public training classes, and outreach through our community and shelter programs.

A private, nonprofit organization that receives no public or private government funding, the Humane Society of Indianapolis is supported solely by contributions, grants, bequests, investments, adoption fees and other fees for service.
