Hypnosis Center: Relocates to New Office in Carmel
Indiana Hypnosis for Change is now operating in a newly opened office at 301 East Carmel Drive, Suite D200, in Carmel. Led by Certified Hypnotist and member of the National Guild of Hypnotists Toni Macri-Reiner, they focus on facilitating a personalized strategy consisting of brief solution-focused hypnotherapy sessions to help with many issues including smoking cessation, weight management, overcoming fears and phobias, anxiety and recovery prior to and after surgery, respectively.
In movies and TV, hypnosis is often depicted as being used to “control” a person. Actually, each person is totally in control of their own experience. Trance is a naturally occuring state that each person experiences at least twice a day–upon awakening and falling asleep–those periods where you are on your “way to” either sleep or awakening.
During a hypnosis session, a client is led through a progressive muscle relaxation process, similar to a guided meditation. The difference is that after achieving a trance state, the hypnotist will give therapeutic suggestions, use metaphors and other guidance to help the client re-frame problems and achieve goals.
Research has shown that hypnosis can facilitate change and healing at a fast rate. A Harvard Medical School and Union Institute in Cincinnati study showed that of three groups of patients that underwent breast reduction surgery, the group that experienced hypnosis healed “significantly faster” than a control group and a group that received only supportive attention.
