Bond with Buddies with these Great Causes
Many fundraising organizations feature unique, adventurous and interesting events, making friendship and philanthropy a great combination. This February, grab your friends for some fun fundraising and general do-gooding.
With your pals and pink pajamas, head to the I.W.I.N. Foundation’s 12th Annual Pink Pajama Party on February 19 to 20 at the Indianapolis Marriott North at Keystone at the Crossing.
Enjoy great food, pink cocktails, shopping at the expansive silent auction and complimentary spa services. Dance the night away to the music of Living Proof before winding down in the lounge listening to an acoustic set by Indianapolis singer/songwriter Chad Mills. Then gently wake up Saturday with a yoga stretch before enjoying a warm breakfast.
For something a little less cozy, but a lot more adventurous, sign up with some best buds for one of two Polar Plunge events to benefit Special Olympics Indiana. The first is on February 13 at Butler University’s Health & Recreation Complex and the second on March 5 at Eagle Creek Beach in Indianapolis. Both plunges start at 10:30 a.m.
After each plunge, put on some warm clothes for an After Splash Bash with food and other refreshments. All participants receive a long-sleeved event T-shirt for fundraising the minimum of $75 (or $50 for students with ID), and other prizes like beach towels, roller coolers and hoodies are available for those that raise more.
February is also American Heart Month with lots of fun events to share with friends.
At 8 a.m. on February 3, put on a favorite, new or thrift store red dress at the Red Dress Dash around downtown’s Monument Circle for an exercise and showcase of camaraderie in support of women’s heart health. Heart-themed heARTwork by influential Hoosiers will be unveiled at the event.
February 5 is National Wear Red Day, so spread the word to family, friends and co-workers to coordinate colors.
The organization will also host one of the largest luncheons of its kind in the country at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis starting at 9 a.m. on February 19. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in health screenings, exhibits, educational breakout sessions and a heart-healthy lunch.
