Apr 30, 2016 06:55AM
The 12th annual Walking for Dreams community walk-a-thon will take place starting at 2 p.m. on May 22 at Buggs Temple on the north end of the canal in downtown Indianapolis. The family- and pet-friendly 5K walk raises funds for 30 local nonprofit organizations, with over 1,500 walkers expected to participate.
Walkers can register in advance online or on-site beginning at 1 p.m. the day of the event.
One of the organizations participating in this year’s event, The Pink Ribbon Connection, aims to have 100 participants. While there is no fee to participate, they request that participants raise a minimum of $100.
The walk is scheduled to end at 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by a ceremony. DJ entertainment, refreshments, face painting and balloon artists will all add to the celebration. Bring the entire family to support many great causes.
Admission: Free; donations to chosen nonprofit organizations are requested. Location: Buggs Temple, 337 W. 11 St., Indianapolis. For more information, visit WalkingForDreams.org.
