Paramount Peace Park Dedication
Indianapolis’ Paramount School of Excellence will celebrate National Barrier Awareness Day with the dedication of the Paramount Peace Park and special guest U.S. Paralympic medalist Nick Springer at 1:30 p.m. on May 7. During a six-year period and with a multitude of collaborations, the vision to create a welcoming space amid the Brookside neighborhood was realized. Community and school volunteers spent thousands of hours removing invasive plants to transform an unused and desolate space into an inspirational pocket park.
Following physical site reformation, three public art collaborations culminated with the installation of numerous large and small scale artworks. Among the forestry of the Paramount Peace Park, visitors can view the sculptures at street level or from two elevated observation decks that are accessible to everyone via an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramp.
The public is invited to the celebration and to help thank many of the collaborators, including Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, IPL’s Project Green Space Initiative, Reconnecting to Our Waterways, Central Indiana Community Foundation, Citizen’s Energy Group and Herron School of Art.
