Communities around the world are set to gather together on March 21 to celebrate The World Day for Inner Peace. This year marks the 95th anniversary of the event, which commemorates the birth of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, who founded Sahaja Yoga in 1970.
The global initiative began as Inner Peace Day to establish a day in schools dedicated to awakening the desire in young generations for a world without conflict. It was designed so students could experience inner peace for themselves through meditation.
The regular practice of meditation has been linked to health benefits, including decreases in depression, chronic pain and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms, while improving social skills and academic performance in adolescents.
The World Day for Inner Peace events offer positive health benefits, and the gatherings also encourage participants to realize their connection to the global community through an initiative that promotes universal ideals.
