With the holiday countdown ticking away, consider saving time while giving back this season by creating a unique gift basket of items gathered from local businesses.
Whether you shop in-store or online, expand your holiday gift search with Indiana Grown, which offers a new generation of Hoosier farmers, foodies and businesses promoting healthy eating and lifestyle.
Shopping local is easy when you visit Indiana Grown’s website which features dozens of great local resources listed by county and category. Whether you are seeking natural health and beauty products, items for the home or unique wines, herbs or food, peruse the listings and support local businesses.
While at the recent Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest at the State Fairgrounds, Natural Awakenings Indy’s booth space was flanked by two members of Indiana Grown: Urban Ladle Artisan Soups and Native Bread. Through visiting with them and learning about their business models and sampling their products, it was easy to discover just how delicious and unique their hometown offerings are.
Urban Ladle Artisan Soups owner Lisa Sprunger’s philosophy is that “every day is a good soup day.” Using only fresh and (when possible) locally sourced ingredients, great soups for every palate are offered. The soups are frozen to preserve ultimate freshness, and available at various retail locations as well as online.
Native Bread was the answer to owner/baker Hayley McGinley’s personal quest to create gluten-free, allergy-friendly artisan breads that were nutrient dense and of premium quality. Selections include four types of glutenfree whole grain loaves, all free of wheat, dairy, eggs, corn, soy, nuts, gums, preservatives and refined sugars. McGinley’s breads are available at several local retail locations, restaurants, farmers’ markets and online.
