Natural Awakenings Indianapolis

Pet Friendly License Plate Benefits Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana

Indiana shelters are reporting higher “live release rates” of animals in their care, but spay/neuter services are still vital to curbing pet overpopulation. Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI) distributes free and low-cost surgery certificates, redeemable at
any of the vets in our statewide network.

Spay/neuter surgeries are more cost-effective than sheltering animals. A national survey found that shelters spend up to $450 to care for an animal. Yet surgeries though SNSI average just $60 per surgery. Spay/neuter addresses the root cause of overpopulation at a fraction of the cost. Many limited-income pet owners adopt strays from their neighborhoods, but struggle to pay for a spay/neuter surgery. SNSI provides $25 surgeries to income qualified pet owners.
The Pet Friendly plate funds thousands of spay/neuter surgeries each year, ensuring that animals are adoption-ready and unable to reproduce, preventing more unwanted litters. The Pet

Friendly plate is $40, with $25 directly benefiting Spay- Neuter Services of Indiana, who uses every penny to fund surgeries and prevent overpopulation. Motorists can upgrade to the Pet Friendly license plates at any time.
