"The Grace of Les Misérables"
Lenten Study Series
During this Lenten season, ponder the themes of justice, poverty, freedom, and love at Cumberland First Baptist Church. "The Grace of Les Misérables" is the basis of the Lenten Study Series at Cumberland First Baptist Church, 116 S. Muessing St., Cumberland. It begins Friday, March 6, 6:30 pm, with a free showing of the movie and continues Sundays (March 8 - April 26) at 11:15 am and will be facilitated by Pastor T. Wyatt Watkins.
The study uses a book by Louisiana author/pastor Matt Rawle, who draws parallels between the six ideals found in the story - grace, justice, poverty, revolution, love and hope- to the Christian calling and the living out of faith in the world. Rawle is known for telling a known story in a new way, intersecting pop culture and the church. Fans of Les Misérables know the power of the story. People who are not familiar with Les Misérables will likely be inspired by how the imperfect and relatable characters interact and how the six ideals work together out in the world.
